Joy is right in front of You
We are blessed to have people around us who love us, who are cheering us on, who put smiles on our faces, and who make our hearts explode with joy. So why don't the pictures on our walls reflect that? For years, I've hung pictures of my family on the wall that are posed, stiff, and if I'm being honest, lifeless. Sadly, I don't really notice them. My children are now growing up far too quickly - two are teenagers! *sigh*. The pictures my family has had taken over the years don't remind me of the amazing children they truly are. My daughter is just silly. I love it! She has personality for days. My oldest son is shy and creative and a peaceful presence. My youngest son is genuinely funny, thoughtful, and gets my sense of humor even when others don't. Now I know that's a lot to capture in an image, but the straightforward poses of a 5 minute church directory session will never capture the lasting joy and love I want to remember. Those pictures will never remind me of their ever-changing personalities. I never want to forget them!
Capturing authentic moments of who people truly are is my mission, my passion, and my style! I want to give parents, couples, mothers, and graduates reminders of the joy and love and personality that their hearts already treasure and long to never forget.
These pictures are from a recent family session of two amazing parents who have a son with TONS of personality. Their son loves running. He loves flying through the air. He loves playing with toy trucks. He loves hanging upside down. One day, he'll put away his toys and will be too big to fly, but RIGHT NOW it's who he is and I want his parents to always remember that. I want them to fill their walls with the memories that make them smile so that they never forget THIS moment in their son's life or in their journey together. Images like these require flexibility, lots of interaction, patience, and a lot of laughter; and I LOVE capturing them!
I made a game of their son running to get the toy truck at my feet. We had a blast seeing how high Mom and Dad could fly him. And when he had enough of pics with Mom and Dad, we made a "tunnel" between his parents' arms and drove cars through there. He played with his trucks while I snapped a few bonus Mom and Dad pics! Mom and Dad see this daily (stress and life can make us forget), but I've now captured the authentic joy and love in their family for them to cherish forever. I'd be honored to do that for you too. Joy is right in front of you! Let's capture it and put it on your walls so that you smile every day as you walk through your home.
